In 2018, Xiaomi hit hard with the former Pocophone – later renamed Poco – of its history. At the time, the Chinese brand stood out for its excellent value for money, but above all performance was placed at the center of the specifications. The idea: to offer an affordable, yet very powerful smartphone.

A few years later, the Poco entity earned its place in the mobile landscape. And in this year 2022, the manufacturer is logically returning to the charge with a new model called the Poco F4 GT. This is an exclusive move, since the phone is ripped from 599 euros, when the brand had got us used to lower prices.

Top performance

The 600 euro bar can somehow mark the symbolic level of the mid-range at the top of the range. At this price, the expectations are necessarily more numerous in terms of features. And that’s good, Xiaomi has put the package on some components, starting with the processor and fast charging.

This Poco F4 GT is in fact equipped with Qualcomm’s latest generation chip, the famous Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The idea is to appeal to inveterate gamers and users with a thirst for high-flying performance. With it, everyday activities and resource-intensive 3D games should be handled without great difficulty.

On the fast charging side, Poco opted for a 120 W block capable of recharging the 4700 mAh battery in 17 minutes. A very short amount of time that had already been observed and tested on the Xiaomi 11T Pro. Note that the charger is actually supplied in the box – this is no longer the case with all manufacturers.

Smart charging

The manufacturer also mentions the Adaptive Charge function, “which prevents the battery from overcharging in the critical charge range of 80% -100% overnight“, We explain.

  • Refresh rate: 120Hz
  • Definition: FHD + (2400 x 1080 pixels)
  • Gorilla Glass Victus
  • Software: MIUI 13 on Android 12
  • Connectivity: 5GBluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, NFC

A huge phone

In terms of weight and dimensions, this Poco F4 GT is worthy of a Poco phone: you will be dealing with a relatively large and heavy device, with a thickness of 8.5 mm and a weight of 210 grams. Finally, the device incorporates “magnetic triggers, capable of withstanding 1.5 million presses”, which have been “tested on more than 100 popular games”.
