How are you, Wendy?
Wendy Williams curiously told “Good Morning America” that she will be returning to her self-titled daytime talk show despite Sherri Shepherd having already been named as her successor.
“This is what I would like to say to my Wendy Watchers: keep watching because I will be returning to the ‘Wendy Show’ bigger and brighter than ever,” said Williams, who declined to appear on camera for chat. morning show in a telephone interview.
Given the wild proclamation, Page Six reached out to the show’s rep for comment, which directed us to Debmar-Mercury’s February press release announcing Shepherd’s new “Sherri” talk show.
A source close to the production company also told us that Debmar-Mercury is “100% committed” to the Shepherd show this fall, having blocked slots with Fox and developing plans to expand to other station groups.
Our insider added that if and when Williams felt ready to return to a daily live show, Debmar-Mercury would support her, but it certainly wouldn’t be in three months since all of the company’s slots are full.
Debmar-Mercury representatives did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
Williams, 57, also told “GMA” that he is “very comfortable” with the idea of returning to work, stating that his “partners with the show, everyone is ready”. When she pushed on hers, she said give her three months.
“There are private things I have to deal with and then I’ll be ready to go back and be free and ready to do my thing,” she shared, noting that it has nothing to do with her health or battle with Graves’ disease. .
Making the claim even stranger is the fact that Williams’ personal representative Howard Bragman previously claimed the shock jock “understood” why Shepherd was taking his place.
“She, more than anyone, understands the reality of syndicated television: you can’t go to the market and sell a show that’s the ‘Maybe Wendy Show,'” Bragman said.
“She understands why this decision was made from a business point of view and Debmar-Mercury assured her that if her health were to get to a point where she can host again and if her desire was to host again she would be able to host again. new on TV at that time ”.
Williams later denied on his new Instagram account to grant Bragman the authority to post on his behalf regarding any activity involving Debmar-Mercury.
The author of “Wendy Williams Experience” has been suspended from her daytime talk show since July 2021.
