“A full stomach makes the heart happy” goes the old proverb.

But the American Heart Association (AHA) takes a different approach.

The medical association, one of the most influential in the United States, released its most recent 2021 dietary recommendations “to improve cardiovascular health” on Tuesday.

This is the first time in over 15 years that the AHA has updated its recommendations and, according to it, seeks to adapt them to current eating habits, marked by the “trend, aggravated by the pandemic, to multiply fast food options, such as delivery to home, meal kit and prepackaged foods “.
