From the age of 14 to 85, more than 5,000 people visited this complex with its personalized and atypical decoration. Not an easy decision to make, but one that has been murmuring for some time. “Mentally tired”, at 50, took the plunge.
The story will last nearly 30 years
Originally from Quelmer in Saint-Malo, the story begins in 1992. Graduated in mechanics, he struggles to find work. With their mother, Mireille Vaupré, specialist in aesthetics and well-being, they opened their first restaurant: Freetime.
However, “at first I was not convinced by the world of fitness. I started by selling tanning booths and had classes with 3 – 4 people, ”she recalls. The story will last nearly 30 years.
Amazone Fitness was born in 2006
After three premises, in Rocabey, in Quai Duguay-Trouin then on the road to Saint-Méloir, they bought a piece of land in 2006 in Paramé. They built a 1,400 m2 complex and created Amazone Fitness. “We have evolved in the fitness wave. I have become a true professional ”.
Over the years the structure has developed: a swimming pool, a sauna, a hammam, a weight room, two fitness rooms, an RPM studio and a cardio area.

But the sudden death of his mother in February 2020, at the age of 67, stops his business. Vincent loses his mark. “She was an incredible woman. She’s the one who handled it all. She didn’t do sports, she was at the reception “, he says.” We were hyper fusional. We just had to look at each other and we understood each other. Without my mother … I still see her there, in the office “, he confides, full of emotion.
“I don’t stop because I’m in the red. I stopped because I can’t come here every day anymore, I see my mother everywhere. However I still have the physical fishing … but the mental one doesn’t follow anymore.
“It breaks my heart to stop”
And the health crisis is not helping the situation. “With Covid-19 I went to work. I did a temporary job for six months, then I worked in closed educational centers. I didn’t want to take out a loan. The aid I received from the state allowed me to finance fixed costs. “
He regrets this difficult end. “It breaks my heart to stop. I’ve loved all these years, but I didn’t want it to end like this. I wanted my mother to use what she created because she was not yet retired. She was 68 and still works.
The following ?
After 30 years of his life spent in fitness, Vincent Pauvré has not yet acted on his future. “I’ll help my son Maxime finalize his new gym first, then I’ll probably start by taking a few lessons with him. “
Your son will open a gym
His 24-year-old son, Maxime Vaupré, lulled by fitness, will open the VO2MAX studio on September 1, 2021. A facility specializing in fitness and coaching in small groups, for “tailor made” workouts. His studio will be based in rue Ville Pépin, in Saint-Servan. I offered him the club but it was too big for him. I would have liked it to remain a fitness center, but with Covid it’s very difficult to sell businesses like this. And I can’t wait forever, “he said.
The promoters have already positioned themselves on the ground. “They don’t give a damn about our life. I know what they will do. They will destroy it, ”he adds regretfully.
First, on July 31, 2021 and after more than 15 years of living in Saint-Malo, a page for Amazone Fitness and the Vaupré family will change the page.
