Karen Fukuhara, best known for playing Kimiko Miyashiro in the Prime Video comic series “The Boys” and Katana in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad,” revealed on Instagram that she was assaulted outside a bar Wednesday. The actor did not disclose the location of the incident, but wrote that the attack was “the first time I have been physically injured”.

“I was shot in the head by a man today,” she wrote, noting that she was “physically fine” after the attack. “This shit has to stop. We women, Asians and the elderly, need your help ”.

“I rarely share my private life, but something happened today that I thought was important,” Fukuhara continued. “I was going to a coffee shop and a man hit me in the back of the head. He came out of nowhere. We haven’t had any eye contact before, I wasn’t doing anything out of the ordinary. He came to my surprise and my hat flew off. When I looked back, he was just a few meters away from me (he must have kept walking after he hit me). “

Fukuhara, who used the hashtag “Stop Asian Hate” to accompany his post, said he thought he “confronted” his attacker, but realized it “wasn’t worth the risk.” The actor added: “After a few seconds of staring at himself, and he yelling at me, he finally walked away.”

“I write this, because I have had conversations with my multiracial friends who had no idea these hate crimes happen to normal, everyday people – people they share meals with,” he wrote. “I felt it was important to raise awareness.”

He said he is now considering taking self-defense lessons after the “shock” of the attack. She expressed relief that her attacker himself wasn’t carrying a deadly weapon.

“Why is this something we ‘victims’ have to think about?” Fukuhara asked. “What satisfaction do these executioners derive from beating women, Asians, the elderly? They must be held accountable. What can we do as a community to prevent these horrific crimes? “

Her “The Boys” co-stars gathered around her in the comments section of her post. Chace Crawford wrote: “F this person !! I hope you are well, it’s terrible. “

Jack Quaid added “Karen thank you for sharing your experience. I’m sorry this happened to you. I love you. Here if you need anything. Laz Alonso shared: “This pisses me off. I would be there….”

variety contacted the Fukuhara representative for further comment.
